The Keys to Happiness, Health & Success!

Hello Readers,

I posted a dynamic, but brief article on my FB Page (thedestinydiva824), entitled "8 Habits of Happy, Healthy, Successful People". I know most of you did not have an opportunity to read it -- no worries. We're going to review each of the 8 habits over of the next few posts.

According to a Harvard study, being happy and healthy is not something you can just hope for and have it manifest.  You have to put something tangible into getting there. That's always been my philosophy:). The goal of success begins with finding your place of peace, hope, and joy. So, it was no surprise to me that the first of the 8 habits is simply this: Happy, healthy, successful people pray and meditate daily and often. Were you surprised? I have to admit, I was. I talk to people who go to church every Sunday who DON'T pray and meditate daily. However, the concept of either prayer or meditation is fundamental to almost any area of life that supports enhancing the quality of life.

Prayer and meditation is literally the foundation of almost every faith. As a Christian, you can have no right relationship with God through Christ without prayer. Meditation is the basic tenant of any strategy to de-stress and get in touch with your inner self. So, is it no wonder that the first strategy on the list is that happy, healthy, successful people pray and meditate morning, noon, and night.

In other words, they begin their day with prayer and meditation. They take time to pray and meditate some times during the day. They end their day with prayer and meditation. In essence, a posture of prayer puts you in a place so God can speak to your spirit and order your steps. A habit of meditating on God's promises and His word helps keep you centered and in a place of peace. So, let's just start there.

What does a posture of prayer look like in a person's day?  Let's first address what it does not have to be. You don't have to bring out the prayer mat or prayer pillow and kneel in the place you're in. Strong prayer warriors will often do this to get in a place of submission to God. But if you are at work or in a public place, this is not the posture you should assume. Prayer is simply a conversation between you and God. That means you talk to Him, then you listen for a response.  You can do this anytime, anywhere, under any and every circumstance without restrictions.

Your response from God may come in a variety of ways.  It may come as a feeling or emotion, as a word planted in your spirit, a sign in your surroundings, another person giving you a word of encouragement, or another person giving you a prophetic word. However it comes, your ability to know when you hear God's response (His voice) comes with you having a consistent prayer life and listening intently to hear what He has to say.  Meditation is simply getting in a place of quiet and letting all the mess and stress of the day leave your mind. The ideal scenario is to have a time of prayer, followed by some time of meditation (quiet reflection) to hear the voice of God to ensure that your will aligns with His will and plan for your life.
So as you think about this top habit of happy, healthy, successful people, how do you compare? What does your prayer and meditation life look like?  Think about it, write it down, and if there is room for improvement, make it happen!
In the next post, we'll address #2 - something that most of you are going cringe at - read at least one book per week! Wow!
